Application of the Australian Wilfley Table

The Motive Traction Wilfley Table is a mechanically operated reciprocating table, consisting of a self oiling enclosed type of head motion, a deck having a plain surface partly riffled and partly un-riffled and an understructure and tilting device.

1.1              APPLICATION OF THE WILFLEY TABLE

The following are a few of the operations in the art of concentration in which the Motive Traction Wilfley Concentrating Table has proven its superiority.

1.1.1        Before or after flotation units for the recovery of coarse mineral not readily     recovered by floatation.

1.1.2        As pilot tables following flotation machines to serve as an indicator to the operator of the efficiency of each machine and for the recovery of valuable minerals when the floatation unit is not working at a point of high recovery. Motive Traction Wilfley Tables used as a pilot table give the operator instant warning of inefficient operation and serve as a safeguard against heavy tailings loss.

1.1.3        For two or more mineral separations from flotation concentrates, previous table middlings or from original feed.

1.1.4        For efficient concentration of low grade mineral feeds to produce a high grade concentrate for metallurgical treatment and tailings to waste.

1.1.5        For concentrating a middling feed producing a high grade concentrate and a middling for regrinding.

1.1.6        For the concentrating of mineral feeds of low specific gravity such as graphite, molybdenum etc.

1.1.7        For the recovery of metallics etc. from free gold ores, refuse in brass foundries, cyanide plants, assay offices, re-melting and casting works and jewellery shops.

1.1.8        As a means of controlling classification in milling plants under certain conditions.

1.1.9        For washing and clean and inferior coals, iron ore etc.

2.1              WILFLEY TABLE SIZES AND TYPES

Sizes and types of the various Wilfley Tables are shown in the following data tables. The standard deck covering is marine plywood with sugar-pine or maple riffles and finished with multiple coats of wear and water resistant urethane epoxy paint or a sprayable polyurethane.

Left and right hand tables are provided as required. A right hand table will have the feed and water Boxes on the right hand side when viewed from the drive end.

All parts are available from factory stock. When ordering always quote model number and serial number.

 2.0              OPERATING DATA

The capacity of any Wilfley Table varies with the character of the ore, amount of mineral contained, dilution of the feed and the fineness of the feed.

On extremely fine feeds carrying a relatively low amount of mineral, the capacity may be as low as 567kg per hour for the #6A table. Under  these conditions the tables should be operated at a speed of about 300 r.p.m. with a stroke of about 12mm and side inclination of about 18mm per meter using a minimum amount of wash water. For 0.25 mm and finer feed a special crank-shaft can be furnished for 12mm u2013 20mm stroke.

Under conditions where the feed would be from 0.84mm u2013 0.25mm, these tables would then be operated with a side inclination of about 40mm per meter. The speed should be somewhere between 260 and 280r.p.m. and the stroke should be lengthened to about 20mm. Under such conditions the capacity would be somewhere between 1325 and 1890kg per hour. By reversing the rotation of the flywheel a different stroke characteristic is bought into effect.

In exceptional cases where handling placer sands or materials in which the ratio of concentrate is very high and the amount of values contained relatively low the capacity of these larger tables would be up on to 5770kg per hour.

The following table lists several types of ores and shows the approximate capacity under average operating conditions when making a final concentrate. For scalping work the capacities would be considerably lower

Type of Ore                Size of Feed                Feeds & Solids           Kg/hr

 Anthracite Coal                6mm                             25                                3800

Anthracite Fines             -10mm                             25                                1135

Bituminous Coal               -8mm                             25                                4535
